(HandBrake 1.4.x will still run on Windows 7 and 8.1. You will receive a notice stating it is not supported when starting the app (twice) after which it will continue to run normally. Some functionality may not work correctly on these older, unsupported Windows versions.)

  • If using Windows 10 along with an Intel 12th generation CPU (or newer), it is recommended to use the “High Performance” power profile in Windows.
  • In HandBrake Preferences, it is recommended to set the “Priority Level” to “Normal” on the Advanced tab.
  • This should help maintain performance when HandBrake is not a foreground window.
  • This should not be necessary if you are running Windows 11.
