MSI Afterburner
Free graphics card software that allows you to overclock, monitor, benchmark and video capture your graphics card
&
+ | Overclocking | Allows experienced users to squeeze more performance out of their graphics cards (overclocking) |
---|---|---|
+ | Undervolting | Allows experienced users to improve efficiency by reducing power consumption (undervolting) |
+ | On-Screen Display (OSD) | Real-time monitoring of critical stats like temperature, clock speeds, and frame rates directly within your game |
+ | Hardware Monitoring | Provides a more detailed view of various GPU parameters like core voltage, memory frequency, and fan speeds |
+ | OC Scanner | One-click overclocking tool that will find the highest stable overclock settings for your card |
+ | Custom Fan Profiles | Create custom fan curves for quieter operation or more aggressive cooling |
+ | Fan Speed Synchronization | Synchronization across multiple GPUs ensures balanced cooling in multi-GPU setups |
+ | Profile Management | Saving and loading profiles allows users to quickly switch between different overclocking settings or fan profiles for different scenarios (e.g., high-performance vs. quiet operation) |
+ | Video Capture | Allows users to record gameplay footage, making it convenient for content creators or capturing gameplay moments |
+ | Benchmarking | Helps users evaluate the impact of their overclocking or undervolting by measuring performance and stability |
+ | Automatic Startup | Load a saved profile on Windows startup |
- | Overheating Risk | Overclocking inherently increases heat generation, which can damage your GPU if not managed properly. This risk is significant and requires users to be cautious and monitor temperatures closely. |
- | Stability Issues | Unstable overclocks can lead to crashes, freezes, and unexpected system behaviour |
- | Learning Curve | The abundance of options can be overwhelming for beginners, making it difficult to navigate and optimize settings effectively |

Notes
- RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS), which was initially a companion software to RivaTuner, has since evolved into a frame rate and hardware monitor that supports video capture and frame limiting. RTSS is bundled with MSI Afterburner, but MSI Afterburner does not require the installation of RTSS to function.
