- Winlator is developed by a single independent developer (BrunoSX/brunodev85) and distributed only through the official website and the official GitHub repository; unofficial modified builds (e.g. Mali-optimized, GlibC, or ‘Frost’ variants) circulate under different maintainers and are not covered by this entry.
- In April 2025 community members and security researchers reported that the bundled
TestD3D.exein a Winlator build was flagged by multiple antivirus engines as containing the Floxif trojan; the developer initially described the reports as a false positive before releasing a Winlator 10.0 Hotfix that recompiled the affected internal executables. more info - Fake website: winlator[.]com
